Due to power outages, all critical refrigeration system uses diesel generators which are expensive to operate. Inficold’s ColdVault (CV) is world’s first retrofittable cooling backup product, which provides most affordable cooling backup for milk cooling and cold storage. This patented product has faster payback period in various combination of grid availability scenarios.

How it works?

ColdVault can be retrofitted between compressor and cooling units of Bulk Milk Cooler or Cold Storage system. Intelligent control panel select operation modes automatically based on electricity availability and cooling requirements

Charging Mode

When cooling is not required and electricity is available, compressor uses electricity to generate cooling and CV stores it in a phase change material for cooling later.

Direct Mode

When cooling is required and electricity is available, compressor bypasses ColdVault to provide cooling directly for immediate use

Discharging Mode

When cooling is required but electricity is not available, ColdVault provides cooling from the storage

Milk industry

Refrigeration is essential to maintain the quality of the milk and prevent bacterial growth to make high value add milk products such as cheese and butter.

The cold chain of milk for such products starts from the rural India. Due to unreliable power at the village level where most of the milk is produced, dairies rely on dirty and expensive diesel generators to operate the refrigeration equipment.

Inficold’s ColdVault provides cooling during the power outages and can also provide significantly faster cooling than traditional bulk milk coolers. This unique product can also be retrofitted with an existing bulk milk cooler.

  • CVM-500: The product is designed to provide cooling backup to a 500L Bulk Milk Cooler. It exceeds ISO 5708, Class 2A II milk cooling norms. It require only 5-7 hours of charging during any time of the day to provide cooling back for 2 milking operations
  • CVM-1000: This modular product is designed to provide cooling back up for 1000L & 2000L BMCs. It meets ISO 5708 milking cooling norms. This unit can be used to provide cooling in alternative modes of BMC operations, such as collecting 1000L milk in each shift.

Cold Storage

Most of the developing world in general and India in particular, witnesses 20-30% food wastage due to unreliable electric grid and higher operational cost of cold storage units during power outages.

This essentially leads to small farmers not using any cold storage for their produce. Indian government is promoting solar integrated cold storage units but absence of cost effective energy storage limits its viability. We have developed a modular cold storage system that can provide round the clock cooling even in locations that average only six hours of power. Our cold storage system can also provide faster ramp down time and are the most affordable way to provide backup power.

  • CVC-500: It is designed to provide cooling backup for 4-8 MT perishable products stored in an approximately 1000 cu ft. cold storage at 4 C - 10 C temperature range.
  • CVC-1000: This product can provide cooling back for 8-16 MT perishables stored in 2000 cu ft cold storage at 4 C - 10 C temperate range.
